French and the Indians VS British, American Colonists, and the Iroquois Indians

This was a battle over a piece of land in the Great Lakes Region. The British argued that it was theirs; the French contradicted them and said that it was theirs. The Indians had been there first, however, and said that it was theirs.

Fort Duquesnse. George Washington, a surveyor at the time, was ordered to lead a force of about 150 men and tell the French to move it; the British said that they were on British territory and therefore had to move. The French told him that they were there to stay. Washington and his men attacked a French scouting party, killing 10 Frenchmen. This started the French and Indian War.

An advantage of the French and the Indians was that the Indians knew the land better. They also had a better fighting style. Instead of stupidly standing in a line like the British normally did, they hid behind trees and shrubs, trying to blend in with their surroundings.

The British ended up winning. The war was ended with the Treaty of Paris.

The war brought Americans closer, showing them that they were not all that different from each other even though they lived many miles apart. It also made them more confident about fighting This was what led up to Causes of the American Revolution.
